Advantages

Health, comfort & convenience

Convection currents and temperature stratification is reduced compared to conventional heating systems, giving rise to more uniform temperature and pressure in rooms. Convection currents also cause circulation of dust, which collects on wall mounted radiators. Underfloor heating systems are free of these disadvantages. The heating system is integrated into the structure of the building, so the heat distribution is even, creating a natural sense of warmth and comfort. There are no radiators or restrictive voids to clean behind, so there is no collection and circulation of dust containing unwanted irritants, viruses and bacteria. There are no hot, hard protruding edges for young and old people to injure themselves on. The heating system is hidden beneath your feet, allowing complete freedom with interior design, particularly since there are few restrictions on the floor surfaces suitable with under-floor systems. Nutherm underfloor heating systems have no joints under the floor, eliminating possibility of leaks.

Energy efficiency & economy

In conjunction with under-floor heating, the co-efficient of performance of a heat pump will benefit from the lower flow and return temperatures relative to conventional radiator systems. The lower air temperature required means that heat losses are reduced compared to radiator systems. High temperatures at high levels in the room, resulting from strong convection currents which would be present if a conventional heating system was used, are absent. These factors improve the efficiency of your heating system, making under-floor heating more economical than conventional radiator systems.
