Simultaneous Heating & Cooling
Many people do not realise that a heat pump can also be used for cooling applications. Fewer again realise that when one side of a heat pump is heating, it is actually cooling water on the other side. Therefore using only one unit and hence one electrical input, a Geothermal heat pump can be used to provide both heating and cooling. A well designed system can achieve COPs of greater than 8 using this design.

Control
Suitable control is an essential part of any Geothermal Heating system. Nutherm can provide a tailor made solution for your project including all design, handware, software and programming. All Nutherm control systems also come complete with weather compensation. Using the return temperature from the underfloor and the indoor and outdoor air temperatires, this varies the output of the heat pump to maximize comfort and efficiency.

Geothermal Heat Pump systems do not require any sort of backup and can be designed to heat hot water to over 80oC if required. Also this is not as inefficient or expensive as claimed by other. For example using a Waterkotte DS Series Heat Pump with R407C refrigerant, the average COP for heating water from 10oC to 55oC is 3.6
